Every county and city has its own ADU rules. These pages set out what each one allows, drawn from the same data our eligibility checker runs on, and how we build there.

- Arlington CountyADU max size: 35% of the combined floor area of the house and the unit, up to 750 sq ft · 45% up to 500 sq ft where the house is under 1,000 sq ft
- City of AlexandriaADU max size: The greater of one third of the house floor area, or 350 sq ft on lots up to 2,500 sq ft and 500 sq ft on larger lots
